What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxYouth@Hewitt, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxYouth@Hewitt event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

What is TEDxYouth@Hewitt?

The second annual TEDxYouth@Hewitt will be held on Saturday, November 19th, 2011. Part of a global series of events held in honor of Universal Children’s Day (November 20), TEDxYouth@Hewitt invites young people from grades 8-12 to gather for a day of inspiring talks and conversation. Organized by kids for kids under the leadership of Hewitt’s ACTION club, this year’s conference has the theme of “BREAKthrough” and features speakers in their teens, twenties and beyond who will share their stories of personal epiphany and of breaking through barriers. An anchor event for TEDxYouth, the Hewitt conference will stream live to encourage the widest possible audience. Students will have the opportunity to network with one another during intervals that will encourage idea sharing through conversation, blogging, tweeting, and play.

Join us, November 19th, 2011, for the next TEDxYouth@Hewitt event!

Program is 10:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Doors open at 9:15 a.m.
Breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided.
